DEBUNKING New for 2006! RESPONSE: This is an old-fashioned view, and COMPLETELY WRONG! For a start PROFIBUS is an open standard defined by IEC61158 and EN50295. There is one PROFIBUS protocol, though with two implementations - one for discrete automation and one for process. They are tightly integrated and they have to differ because of the physical needs of process automation. No other fieldbus can do both jobs on a single network! MYTH 2: ... Extensions to the PROFIBUS architecture in recent years are intended to extend the market of PROFIBUS to process automation. (www.pacontrol.com) RESPONSE: So out of date it's cringe-worthy! There are about 500,000 PROFIBUS PA devices deployed in process automation today and PROFIBUS roughly shares the market with one other technology. Moreover, if the discrete automation devices are added, PROFIBUS is 3-4 times larger in process than anyone else!

If you've pondered these questions and more, we can help. The PTO and the PIC are providing free one-day training classes throughout North America. Current schedule includes 25 cities, but more will be added! This year's agenda features:
Breakfast and lunch are provided. Door prizes are awarded. Hosted reception at the end of the day. Product Exhibits are available. Each attendee receives:
The three distinct series last year covered PROFIBUS, PROFIBUS in the Process Industry and PROFINET. For 2006, these will cover:
All courses include:
Industrial Ethernet growth is predicted to be over 50% per year. Attend our PROFINET training to see how you can benefit from this technology. In a recent ARC survey on fieldbuses, 85% of the respondents agreed that the total lifecycle cost for a fieldbus installation was less than a conventional installation. And 45% expected a payback in less than one year (27% in less than six months). Attend this training to see how your company can save by using a fieldbus! SCHEDULED TRAINING CLASS DATES
PROFITECH PROGRAMME FOR 2006
Two additional classes have been added: PROFIBUS Installer's Class and PROFINET Certified Network Engineering Class. There are now these four courses available:
Courses are conducted in Johnson City, TN. The dates for the first PROFIBUS Certified Network Engineering Class are January 30 through February 3. Space is still available. Visit us.profibus.com for the complete schedule and to register.
