The PTO's main role is to show industrial automation developers and users the
beneficial results of using fieldbus - in particular PROFIBUS and PROFINET - in
North American discrete manufacturing and process automation applications. PTO
assists device vendors and OEMs in the design, development and marketing of
PROFIBUS and PROFINET fieldbus products. PTO also helps end users to understand
and make optimum use of PROFIBUS and PROFINET across the enterprise.
Formerly PTO
As we align our corporate identity with that of the international organization for PROFIBUS and PROFINET, PI (PROFIBUS and PROFINET International), we are now PI North America. Our new logo is in the upper left hand corner of the website. It uses the international logo and brings over the “North America” from our old logo. PI North America is one of 27 Regional PI Associations (RPAs) around the world. The other RPAs are slowly changing their identities as well. We now have PI Switzerland, PI Southeast Asia, PI Italia, and most recently PI North America.
One-day Training Schedule for 2010
The PTO has completed the schedule for the no-cost one-day training classes for 2010. The cities have been selected, and interested individuals can now register at their leisure. Exact dates are still being finalized and will be placed on the website as soon as they are available.
New Ethernet Basics Webinar Available
Although Ethernet is becoming more and more prevalent in industrial automation, it can be difficult for a control engineer to find an Ethernet introduction on his terms. This webinar fills that void. A condensed version of our first three webinars, this one hour introduction will prepare you for understanding Industrial Ethernet. More information and a link to registration are here: A Short Introduction to Ethernet for Control Engineers.
It’s Not Easy Being Green
“It’s not easy being green.” At least that used to be the case. But that was before PROFIenergy.
With PROFIenergy, for Energy Management on PROFINET, users can actively and effectively manage energy in their automation systems. By purposefully switching off unnecessary consumers, energy demand and, thus, energy costs can be drastically reduced.
So begins an article in PROFINET News called “Get Energy Costs Under Control.” Read the article to see the use cases that PROFIenergy handles. For more information including pictures and video visit the PROFIblog.
